Good to know
- A long SMS is billed per segment: price = operator rate × number of segments (no hidden cost — the API returns the segments and the price).
- Standard text (GSM-7): 160 characters per SMS, 153 per segment beyond that.
- Special characters or emojis (UCS-2): 70 characters per SMS, 67 per segment beyond that.
- 100 FCFA of credit are granted when the account is activated — enough to test the API without paying.
📵 The sender seen by the recipient is the number of the sending SIM, not a brand name: G-SMS is designed for transactional SMS (OTP codes, notifications), not for marketing campaigns.
Frequently asked questions
How is an SMS billed?
Per segment, according to the recipient's operator: operator price × number of segments. The amount is shown before sending and returned by the API; there is no fixed fee and no subscription.
Is there a commitment or a minimum?
No. The account is prepaid: you only pay for the SMS you send, with no commitment period and no minimum volume. Signing up credits 100 FCFA for testing.
What happens if an SMS is not delivered?
A message that fails definitively is refunded automatically in credits to the account. The status of each message can be read through the API and is pushed by webhook.
Can I display my company name as the sender?
No. The recipient sees the number of the sending SIM. G-SMS is designed for transactional traffic — OTP codes, confirmations, alerts — where the sender name is not decisive.
